Web Design Portfolio
Below are details of some of the web sites we have designed. We're currently building up our portfolio so expect to see updates throughout the coming months. This should give you an idea of the type of sites we can create. We're always keen to take on a new challenge and develop so if you have something in mind that we haven't done before then please get in touch - you won't be disappointed.
Patrick Hinds Ministries ~ www.patrickhindsministries.org
Recently launched this is a Christian site for an evangelist preacher - Apostle Patrick Hinds. This has lots of Flash & animation particularly on the homepage as the client wanted the site to reflect his outgoing lively persona. Notable features include RSS news feed, Podcast, Guestbook, itinerary calendar and video playlist.
Brandy Carr Nurseries ~ www.brandycarrnurseries.co.uk
This is a clean, uncluttered site for Brandy Carr Nurseries in Wakefield. They grow many different varieties of rhubarb along with English Liquorice Plants. Recently added were options to "buy now" with instant card payments handled by PayPal.
A1 Roper (make-over) ~ www.a1-roper.com
A fresh new look for FTL Roper, a company supplying products and services to the worldwide foundry industry.
Their old web site suffered from poor coding (50 validation errors). The graphics were poorly optimised and lacklustre and their visibility in the search engines was poor.
A completely fresh home page was designed focused on their four core products and services. The company logo was added along with a larger than normal picture for impact.
The rest of the site was "tidied up", the broken menu rollover buttons were redone along with some of the other graphics. A lot of the redundant and obsolete code was stripped out too and a working contact form implemented.
The site has also been optimised for better search engine ranking. They have top 5 placements on all major search engines including Google, Yahoo, Altavista, MSN and Overture.
Compare the old home page to the new home page and also the old ladles page against the new ladles page. (NB: external pages open in a new window).
Junelle Interiors ~ www.junelle.co.uk
This
was one of my first web site designs and a great challenge to start off with.
Junelle Interiors specialise in designing and making soft furnishings, custom
curtains, blinds, etc. They saw the poor quality web sites their competition
had and wanted a distinctive professional looking site. It had to be easy
to navigate as the majority of their customers wouldn't be computer whizzes!
The
site showcases lots of photographs taken by the proprietor of her large range
of designs. A lot of extra work went into enhancing these photos and giving them
a more professional appearance. June was certainly pleased with the results. Have a
look at this example of one photo where I
replaced the background completely.
Rodley
Interiors Ltd. ~ www.rodleyinteriors.co.uk
This client provides and installs a wide range of office partitioning systems
along with other office refurbishment services. This web site design
was my first big "play" with Macromedia Flash for
the animated elements. It gives the site a very professional feel adding
a "wow" factor which impresses potential customers and certainly
impressed the client. Again the photos were enhanced such as this example
of barrel distortion correction, showing how I help you look your best.
MWS Associates ~ www.mwsa.co.uk
This
recently established company of Building Surveyors & Engineers
based in Castleford, West Yorkshire, wanted a web site to provide in depth
information on their wide range of services. They provided the text and
some photos. I recommended basing the navigational structure on three main
client types who would use their services. They hadn't considered
doing this and agreed was a great way to present details of the numerous
services on offer.
This
site also continues my departure from table based design. Traditionally
web designers used tables as a way of laying out pages and graphical elements.
Tables were intended for tabular data and not graphical layout which was
a bit of a bodge or "work around". Cascading Style Sheets are
a much "cleaner" way of creating web pages by separating presentation
from content. They also make a more accessible and search engine friendly web
site too.
E.A. Wood & Son ~ www.eawood.co.uk
A
family run company providing building and joinery services to customers
in and around the Wakefield area. The site implements tabbed
content and iFrames so only the text box portion of the page changes with new information
and the other elements aren't reloaded each time. This allows the photo
slide show on the right to cycle through without interruption.
It's
also an ideal way of presenting the gallery page so larger versions of the photo appear on the
same page rather than resorting to multiple pages or windows. This makes
it simpler and easier for the viewer to navigate. The photos provided
were enhanced like this example of a Summer
House where the weather was changed from overcast to sunny!
For High Quality Chauffer driven cars in Leeds try Performance5
As you can see from the above sites I'm not a fan of formulaic template based sites (where's the fun in that). I try to provide a fresh design that's appropriate to the company in question. For Junelle Interiors and Rodley Interiors I also designed the Company logo's and stationery.
Please contact me if you like what you have seen so far and are interested in a new web site or a facelift for your existing site.
